Act 2, scene 1 is a very high tensions section of the play Blood Wedding, I tried to capture as much emotion in the setting or leave an absence to show the character’s emotions; The setting in stark, all white walls with poorly textured shadows to drape them, there is a huge cross free standing in the center, the scene is tilted to show back left corner. The most important and significant symbol in this scene is the crucifix. Me and Lizzy made this decision to set what seems to us as the mood as a reminder of sin. “Maid: (sharply) You mustn’t show yourself like that!” The bride reveals herself to a man other than her husband, a huge no-no in this society, we use a cross of a reminder there is no choice, and you are doing wrong.

This scene takes place in the very early morning, before the sunrise, and has a very distinct, lingering mood of longing and hesitation. “The hallway of the Bride’s house. The doorway is at the back. It is night.”As this scene begins while it is still pretty dark outside in the very early hours of the morning, and as the scene progresses, it becomes lighter outside. For the beginning of the scene, we are going to use a pretty harsh dark blue light because it is early morning and we want to stress the emotion of tension. As the scene progresses the light will start to fade into a lighter blue, and by the end of the scene, will be a very, very light blue, almost white.
