Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are the bodies main source of energy. Carbohydrates come from sugars like glucose, fructose, sucrose, etc... There are several types of carbohydrates including monosaccharides, disaccharides and polysaccharides. A monosaccharide is the simplest form of sugar. Fructose, glucose, and galactose are all examples of monosaccharides. Disaccharides are sugars with two sugar molecules like sucrose and lactose. Polysaccharides are sugars containing more than two sugar molecules like starch. Carbohydrates are in sugary foods like fruits and bread. The body will use these carbs, either as energy, or store them as fat.
