Mini-Maycomb Project
For the Mini-Maycomb project, Eli was my partner. This was my first project working with Eli and I think he is smart, and he has some really cool and creative ideas. He was very easy and fun to work with and I would be pleased to work with him again.
In the Mini-Maycomb Project, we had to take a mini model, and create a new and improved version, with an explanation on how we improved it, and what it’s connection was with “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. The mini model our group was given was a small, flimsy paper table. with tape attached legs. It couldn’t stand up and definitely couldn’t hold anything on top of it. To improve on it, we made it out of foamboard and used hot glue to attach the legs to make it more stable. To connect it to “To Kill a Mockingbird”, we added a box on top filled with tiny symbols from the book. We also added a pink tablecloth and we added chairs.
In this project I learned that bright colours are not always the way to go for a tablecloth. We got several pieces of critique saying that it was cool, but hot pink was not the right choice. In this project I think that as a team we came up with really cool ideas together and we did a good job of making them come to live and incorporating them into our mini model. A struggle we had was that when we tried attaching the legs of the table, we used Elmer's liquid glue and they kept falling off before the glue got to dry. To solve this problem, we used hot glue, which dries much faster, so that the legs would stay in place and dry quickly. I think that we did really well as a group concerning work ethic. We were both always on task and able to turn in the project complete and on time. I think I need to work on making better choices when it comes to looking professional. If I could, I would change the colour of the tablecloth and would make straighter cuts on the foam board to make it look neater.
