Rile 'Em Up Humanities
In my critique group for this project, I had Peter Fisher, John Contreras, and Erik Lennox. They are all lovely people and very easy to work with. All of them gave very specific and helpful feedback and significantly helped me improve my work in this project. In this project, for humanities, I created stencil art, an alternate art piece, an alternate identity complete with a biography and a photo of my character, I read and annotated 10 articles about my topic and I wrote an essay on my topic. Throughout creating all of these aspects and researching about my topic I learned that prescription medications can be very unhealthy and put you at high risk of liver problems and, if pregnant, birth defects. My best piece in this project is my stencil art. From the first to the second draft my stencil significantly improved and I think the main reason for that was getting feedback on my stencil from a professional. I loved the first draft of my stencil and I was even happier with the way the second draft turned out. A major struggle for me in this project was getting the inspiration for my alternate art piece I had an idea at first, but as exhibition came closer and closer, I realized that I would not be able to accomplish what I had wanted to. So, I went on pintrest for ideas and inspiration, and that's where I got the idea for my art piece. I think I did really well with taking the critique I got and applying it to my work. I can't take all of the credit though, some of my peers gave me very specific, and extremely helpful feedback to improve my work. For example, Peter Fisher gave me a lot of critique both written and verbal, which helped me improve my work a lot. The paint I used for my alternate art piece was oil based paint, and even though I painted my piece days in advance, it took a very long time to dry, days in fact, and while transporting it from home to school, it got pretty smudged and messed up. If I could change something about this project, I would use different paint, or allow myself even more time to let my art dry before trying to move it somewhere.
