Proteins
Proteins are the energy that the body uses mostly in regions like muscle, tissue, hair, etc... Proteins are complex polymers made up of amino acids which are often referred to as the "building blocks" of proteins. There are 20 amino acids in the body. Eight of these amino acids are not produced by the body (they're called essential amino acids) and must be consumed in food to maintain regular body function.
Proteins are needed for survival. Every food that comes from a plant or animal will contain protein because all living things need protein to survive. Proteins that come from plants are typically incomplete proteins, meaning they don't contain every essential amino acid whereas proteins in meat usually do contain all of the essential amino acids.
Something I learned while studying protein is that our body does not make all of the amino acids we need and that we need to eat some. I also learned that meat is not the only or main source of protein, but plant foods also have proteins which also have essential amino acids in them. I will use this in daily life to balance my intake of proteins and essential amino acids.
